The Oleryben Community Covenant

Out of Character Community Charter

1. Purpose and Vision

The Kingdom of Oleryben was founded upon creativity, collaboration, and community spirit. This covenant serves as our shared agreement — a promise among residents, roleplayers, and guests — to uphold the values that make Oleryben a welcoming, immersive, and beautiful home.
We strive to create a setting that inspires storytelling, art, and fellowship, where everyone can find a sense of belonging and enjoyment within our medieval-fantasy world.

2. General Conduct

All who dwell or visit Oleryben are expected to act with courtesy and respect, both in word and deed.

  • Treat every individual with kindness, regardless of background, beliefs, or character.
  • Harassment, hate speech, or targeted hostility have no place here.
  • Separate in-character (IC) conflict from out-of-character (OOC) behavior at all times.
  • Disputes should be handled calmly and privately or referred to staff if needed.
  • Remember that your actions reflect upon the whole community — lead with fairness and goodwill.
  • Our community is rated Moderate(M) throughout the region. Any activity must follow these rules and extreme violence and sexual activity is not permitted. This is a community allowing child avatars and any activity must be within Second Life Community Standards, and Maturity Ratings. https://community.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/english/maturity-ratings-r52/

3. Rentals

The lands of Oleryben are open to those who wish to make them their home. Rental spaces are intended for those who respect our shared vision and follow the covenant.

  • Rent is due as displayed on each rental unit; a 48-hour grace period applies for late payments.
  • Refunds are issued only in the event of region error or closure.
  • Tenants must maintain their parcels according to our decor and theme standards.
  • Continued failure to meet community standards may result in eviction with notice.

4. Decor and Aesthetic Standards

Oleryben follows an elven medieval high-fantasy aesthetic that values realism, cohesion, and beauty. Every parcel is part of the greater landscape, and each build should complement the whole.

  • Modern or anachronistic objects (cars, neon lighting, electronics, etc.) are not permitted.
  • Maintain a natural and immersive look — weathered stone, aged wood, flora, and fantasy elements are welcome.
  • Stay within your prim limits as posted on your rental unit.
  • Skyboxes are NOT allowed without permission of the Community Owner, and in the event of their approval, they must match Medieval themes. 
  • Staff may request adjustments or removal of items that conflict with the environment or performance standards.

5. Roleplay (RP) Rules

While participation in roleplay is not required, it is encouraged for those who wish to bring Oleryben’s stories to life. The following expectations apply to all RP conducted within the realm:

  • All roleplay is consent-based — god-modding, power-playing, or forcing outcomes on others is prohibited.
  • Keep in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) interactions separate; do not let IC disputes spill into OOC discussions.
  • Combat, arrest, or conflict scenes must be agreed upon beforehand or resolved using fair dice or story-based systems.
  • Respect designated OOC zones and public spaces.
  • Roleplay content should fit the world’s tone — medieval fantasy, adventure, and realism are encouraged.

Character Standards

Characters should not appear anachronistic and must reasonably fit within a medieval or fantasy setting. Visitors and guests are welcome to explore in non-era attire, but those who participate in roleplay are expected to dress appropriately for the time period.

6. Land and Environment

The realm of Oleryben is a shared landscape of forests, rivers, keeps, and villages.

  • Public areas are free for all to enjoy, provided they are not obstructed or claimed.
  • Terraforming will not be allowed for any resident; the terrain has been carefully crafted for each home in the region. 
  • Region-wide modifications (lighting, weather, or major builds) are handled by staff to preserve performance and consistency.
  • Please report visual issues or broken items to staff for timely correction.

7. Events and Activities

Community events keep the world of Oleryben vibrant and alive.

  • Player-run events are encouraged and may be submitted for inclusion on the official calendar.
  • Coordinate with staff to avoid scheduling conflicts.
  • Events must remain within the world’s setting and adhere to roleplay and decor standards.
  • OOC events such as festivals, contests, or workshops are also welcome when respectful of the environment.

8. Staff and Governance

Oleryben is overseen by the Community Administration Team, which ensures fair management of rentals, moderation, and world development.

  • The Community Administration Team is composed of the Community Owner and multiple Community Managers overseeing various departments. (Rentals, Marketing and Events, Roleplay, and Building/Decor), Community Moderators are assisting them in each department. 
  • Staff decisions are made in good faith and in service of the greater community.
  • Residents may appeal disciplinary actions respectfully by contacting a Manager via our community discord.
  • Suggestions and feedback are always welcome and may be shared via Discord or direct message.

9. Enforcement and Discipline

The covenant exists to protect the harmony of our shared world.

  • Minor issues will generally receive a verbal or written warning.
  • Continued or serious violations may result in temporary bans or permanent removal.
  • All actions are documented to ensure fairness and transparency.
  • Harassment or malicious disruption will result in immediate removal without refund.

10. Amendments

This covenant is a living document. As Oleryben grows and evolves, so too may its rules and customs.

Updates to this covenant will be posted to official group notices and Discord channels prior to enforcement. By remaining part of the Oleryben community, you agree to abide by the latest version of these terms.
